Why GBCH

Unlike many homebuilders in today's market that claim they are "Green", Green Built Custom Homes (GBCH) offers more than just being "Energy Star® compliant" and is truly a "Green" home builder.

"Green" building is more than just what you put into a home; it is also the way you build it. Having a true "Green" home involves using techniques and materials that are environmentally friendly and that reduce the "carbon footprint" (unhealthy gases being emitted into the atmosphere) of the home.

Before we even begin to build on a lot, we conduct several environmental tests. These tests let us ensure the homeowner chat they are purchasing good soil and will have healthy drinking water. When we build a home, our focus is on water and energy conservation, indoor air quality. and environmentally friendly landscaping that will also help conserve water.

We get asked quite frequently about the cost of building a "Green" home is as it is deemed to be much more expensive than a traditionally built home. A “Green” built home will cost a small amount more than a comparable traditionally built home. However, the homebuyer will recapture the amount spent from buying the “Green” home by the lower utility bills achieved by the energy and water efficiency of the home. As more technology and consumer focus is given to “Green” homes, we expect the resale value to only increase because more and more people will want their home to be environmentally friendly. In addition, more and more banking institutions offer special incentives and mortgages to buyers of a “Green” home.

GBCH works with a "Green" architect that understands and designs the home in the most energy efficient way as possible. We will tailor each home to meet the individual homeowners personal style. needs and will incorporate any additional environmental or energy saving items they wish into the home to make their own unique reduction in their "carbon footprint" such as the installation of solar energy panels: dual flush toilets; low volatile organic compound (VOC) materials: or, utilizing other materials that are environmentally friendly such as bamboo flooring.

Our environment is deteriorating and because of our diminishing climate, we are experiencing severe consequences worldwide. You can contribute to helping our environment by making simple “Green” renovations to your home or by building or purchasing a “Green” built home.  GBCH offers to you an opportunity to conserve our natural resources in addition to saving money on your utility bills by having an energy efficient home and breathing in healthy indoor air.
